Betsy Spier is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 25 years of experience in the mental health and substance use disorders fields. She is a graduate of Antioch University with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology and SUD. In addition to her work as a clinician and an administrator, she teaches at Pepperdine University in the the GSEP department and at UCLA in the Drug and Alcohol Studies department where she received the Distinguished Instructor Award.
In her private practice, she specializes in treating adults, and their families. She works with mood disorders, trauma, co-occurring disorders and has many hours of training in Experiential Therapies. Betsy was involved in opening one of the first “dual diagnosis” programs in South LA in the mid 1990’s. The program came out of the need for specialized treatment for women who were chemically dependent and had co-occurring mental health disorders.
